单作用叶片泵由定子、转子、叶片及配流配等主要零件组成。定子由耐磨材料制成。转子上开有叶片槽,叶片安装在叶片槽中,可在其中滑动。转子与定子偏心布置,偏心距为e,且两侧有配流盘紧密贴合。当电动机带动转子旋转时,叶片靠离心力或弹簧力或液压力的作用下紧贴定子内表面。这样,就在定子、转子、叶片及配流盘之间形成若干个密封工作容积。叶片在定子作用下-缩回,叶片间的密封容积逐渐缩小,油液从配流盘上的排液窗口排出,转子每转一周,每个工作容积各完成一次吸、排液,故名为单作用叶片泵。
